Vintage Danish Carl M Cohr Gense Riberhus Silver Plate Cutlery set for 8

This beautiful set is in very good condition.

There are 8 hollow handle knives, 8 dinner forks, 8 entree forks, 8 dessert spoons, 8 Continental soup spoons or tablespoons, 8 teaspoons, 8 cake forks, 4 small meat forks and a large serving fork and an additional table spoon. There are 60 pieces. The knives are difficult to find even in Denmark and it can be seen at the web page below single knives retail for DKK275 or around AU$50.00 each.

The pieces are in the design called Riberhus and features a single flower design to the finial with further decorations to the handles and scrolls to the backs. H.P. Jacobsen designed the pattern in the 1930's but due to the start of WW2 the drawings were stored and the pattern finally released in the 1950's. It became a success and the pattern is still very popular today with its timeless design.

The silver plated pieces are marked to the backs Cohr Atla and have the Danish silver plate quality torch mark used since 1932. Some of the knife blades are also marked for Cohr, others are marked Raadvad and all are marked stainless steel Denmark. The set would date to around the 1950's. Cohr silver was one of the more highly regarded silver workshops in Denmark finally closing its doors in 1987. Along with a few other Corh patterns Gense now produces Riberhus cutlery.

The silver plating to the pieces is bright, reflective and shiny. There is no flaking, corrosion, pitting or wear to the silver plating. Even the fork tines show no wear through to the plating. There are very fine scratches from use. The large serving fork is the only piece that shows some faults by way of pale grey spots to the tines as shown.

The high quality of Cohr cutlery shows in the way this set presents after so many years. I find the plating on Danish cutlery far superior to most English and Australian sets of a similar era.

This is a beautiful and stylish setting.

The set weighs over 2.5kilos.

For Imperial measurement users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.

Refunds and Returns.

Refunds will be granted on request providing the item is returned to us via registered and insured shipping and is received in the same condition it was when originally dispatched.

Refunds on shipping costs will be granted at our discretion based on the following:

1. If the item is substantially at variance with the item description (which includes photos), we will refund the cost of shipping including return shipping.

2. If the item is lost in transit to the address given, and this is verified by tracking records, the cost of shipping will be refunded.

3. If the purchaser simply wants to return the item as the description was not read correctly or the purchaser simply has a change of mind, no refunds on shipping costs will be given.

If the item is damaged in transit the item should be presented to the shipping or delivery provider in the first instance for verification. On this instance we will happily assess refund or insurance claim options.
