This is a FANTASTIC original antique c1920 sterling silver & guilloche enamel box made by the famous silversmith and jeweller David Andersen of Norway.
This box also has provenance (see below in red).
The box is absolutely delightful! 
The enamel is purple in colour and the engine turned silver underneath is decorative with zig zags and wavy lines along with groove effect all makes this box shimmer with every movement and the purple changes from dark to light with the silver shining underneath it.
Beautiful!
It has a hinged lid with opens and shuts without restriction. 
The lid is silver rimmed, and the base is all silver, no enamel.
As you can see the base is marked with the early David Andersen mark with a little s between 925 and the makers trade mark....which is a hammer & pair of pliers or similar.
It comes to you in its natural state, not cleaned or polished as many collectors wish to do this themselves, so you will see that the silver is in its natural slightly tarnished state, and there are the remains of an old sticker to the base, the inside gilt shows signs of age and use with some tarnish coming through, but it's up to you if you want to have it cleaned up.
This good David Andersen box measures 3 and a quarter inch long x 2 and half inch wide x 1 and a quarter inch deep.
It weighs approx ...216grams.
It is in overall very good condition with some minor age and use wear to exterior, some minor scuffs to lid etc, the only thing to mention is a flake chip to the top corner of the lid revealing a sliver of silver underneath, and a flake chip to the side (both pictured), otherwise a beauty of an antique silver enamel box.

Provenance - this item is formerly from the estate of Adele, Countess of Essex, which, if you ever watched Downton Abbey, the character of Cora was based on a glamorous American Heiress like Adele (nee Grant)  who later became Adele Capell, Countess of Essex.
