Roland TB-303 - classic synth / sequencer

If you want a classic piece of kit that’s responsible for a lot of seminal electronic music, you are in the right place.

I have only owned this for a very short time. After waiting for a long time to find an original vintage 303 bassline synth like this beauty, unfortunately I have to sell it due to unforeseen financial reasons.

This unit was bought from a lovely guy who purchased it brand new in 1982. He was the only owner. This is an early serial number model (303’s have 2 zeros at the end of their serial numbers) and obviously a rare collector’s item as well as an amazing and highly functional synth.

Original owner included the service notes (as pictured) in the sale. As you can see, it was serviced by Robin Whittle who is a famous synth tech and the guy responsible for the legendary Devilfish 303 mod (to be clear, this unit is not modded and was only serviced by Robin). The service cost $377 and will ensure years of problem free use of this 303.

The battery compartment is free of corrosion and everything works on this unit, as it should.

The only thing to note is the original owner had this mounted to some sort of case and you can see where the black foam lining has discoloured parts of the sides and bottom of the synth. I tested gently removing it which I was able to do with rubbing alcohol, but I don’t have the time or patience to complete the job. Of course this is purely a cosmetic issue and doesn’t affect the functionality of the 303 at all. There is also some discolouration on the underside of the case where he had affixed it using some sort of glue I think.

No refunds or returns (due to eBay's onerous policy which favours fraudulent buyers), though of course this unit is in perfect working order and sounds massive! Get your acid on or explore all the other possibilities with this bad boy.
