Item Description:

This vintage etching was done by artist Reinhold. H. Palenske (1884-1954). This etching has been pencil signed by the artist and titled in pencil "Bulldogging". With frame, it measures 16 3/4" by 12 3/4". This print was produced by Brown and Bigelow for Palenske using the Talio Crome technique. Their small logo can be seen in the lower left of the print. The print is in great vintage condition, nicely framed in a simple wooden black frame and covered with glass.

Etchings by Palenske are included in the collections of the world`s finest galleries, including the Smithsonian Institute, the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library and the Royal Gallery of London. In 1944 the Chicago Society of Etchers awarded him the most coveted prize in etching arts "for the outstanding work of the year among the nation`s top etchers". Palenske's etchings tell the story of Palenske's great love for the outdoors, and his ability to portray vividly what he saw and felt in the great outdoors he loved so well. Palenske was co-founder of the group known as the "Trail Riders Of the Rockies" he was a well-known figure to the trappers, guides, traders and Canadian Mounties of the Pacific Northwest. The Blackfeet Indians so admired his riding skill and woods ability they adopted him into their tribe as "White-Calf-Running-Like- Hell-Do- Everything".
