Stunning Victorian Pair of Scottish 9ct Gold Citrine set Earrings c1885

A stunning Pair of Scottish 9ct Gold Citrine set Earrings for pierced ears, which date to c1885 and were probably made by a Scottish Provincial Goldsmith (please see the detailed close-up photographs provided, which form an integral part of the item's description).

This wonderful antique Pair of Citrine set Earrings, which weigh 4.9 grams for the pair, have deep caged mounts (approx' 8.0mm from the back rail to the table of the Citrine) - all crafted in 9ct Gold. They are fitted with 'Shepherd's Crook' hook fittings for pierced ears, shaped to ensure that the Citrines sit just below the ear lobe. These stunning Earrings are claw set with round faceted Citrines with a diameter of approx' 12.0mm. Typical of Scottish Gold Jewellery of the period the Earrings are unmarked but they are guaranteed to be made from solid 9ct Gold.

Commensurate with age these beautiful Earrings are in superb condition, as shown; with no chips or abrasion to the Citrines even when viewed with a loupe. Consistent with natural Citrine gemstones there is a slight colour variation between the two gems, but this doesn't detract from what is a particularly impressive Pair of Scottish Citrine Earrings dating to the late Victorian Period.

In summary, this is a stunning Pair of Scottish 9ct Gold Citrine set Earrings dating to c1885 - they are quite simply sublime.
