Up for auction is a Conn 12B trumpet (serial number 349247). This puts the date of manufacture in mid 1942, meaning that this must have been one of the last horns built before they slowed production for the war effort! The bore of the horn is .438" (Conn #1 bore). The bell is 4 1/2" and is made from solid copper by an electrolytic process. The engraving is crisp and clean, and reads "C. G. Conn Ltd./ U.S.A./ Elkhart--IND." The stamp on the leadpipe reads "12B". This horn looks beautiful and plays very well. The valves have very good compression and feel very mechanically sound, with no wiggle from side to side. As for the aesthetic condition of the horn, there are a few scratches and a few small dings, as well as some light pitting and a few small spots of discoloration. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now--if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This trumpet comes with a mouthpiece in good condition, and a worn case.
