High-performance mid-range telephoto lens for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras
Angle of view equivalent to 120mm on the Micro Four Thirds system (35mm equivalent focal length). This high-performance mid-range telephoto lens offers an angle of view of equivalent to 120mm on the Micro Four Thirds system (35mm equivalent focal length). Featuring a natural feeling of perspective and beautiful bokeh effects, this lens allows the photographer to zoom in on distant objects and capture a single part of a subject. It brilliantly realizes the photographer's intentions. With a minimum focusing distance of 50cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7.2, this lens is excellent for taking shots with a pinpoint focus on a subject. Currently comprising the 60mm F2.8 DN mid-range telephoto lens, the SIGMA 30mm F2.8 DN standard lens and the SIGMA 19mm F2.8 DN wide-angle lens, the updated DN series expands photographers' high-performance options for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.
Superior image quality from the center to the edges of the image
SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass helps minimize various aberration. The optimized power distribution ensures exceptional image quality from the center to the edges of the images. This lens features SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass, which helps minimize axial and transverse chromatic aberration. Glass mold aspherical lenses help minimize coma. Optimized power distribution helps ensure exceptional image quality from the center to the edges of the images. In addition, the inner focusing system corrects the fluctuation of aberration to maintain image quality regardless of the focusing position. The superior telecentric optical design improves the image quality throughout the frame.
Exclusive low-dispersion glass
The degree to which light is refracted by glass depends on the light's wavelength. This fact causes different colors of light to focus at slightly different points. The result is chromatic aberration, the color fringing that is particularly noticeable in telephoto lenses. Most chromatic aberration can be removed by combining a high-refractivity convex lens element with a low-refractivity concave element. Yet residual chromatic aberration known as "secondary spectrum" may still remain. To minimize this secondary spectrum, which can be a serious issue with conventional lenses, Sigma lenses feature up to three types of exclusive low-dispersion glass offering superior performance: ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion), SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and FLD (âFâ Low Dispersion). In particular, FLD glass offers ultra-low dispersion in combination with high transmittance and the anomalous dispersion characteristics of fluorite. Meticulous deployment of these types of exclusive low-dispersion glass and optimization of power distribution gives Sigma lenses superlative image rendition undiminished by residual chromatic aberration.
An all-new, all-premium lineup
Superior functionality across the lineup, thanks to Sigma's proprietary new A1 MTF measuring system.
There are three requirements for outstanding lenses: fine design, precise manufacturing and inspection that ensures compliance with all specifications. Sigma lenses are born of well-thought-out design concepts and sophisticated, advanced Japanese manufacturing technology; the final clincher is our lens performance evaluation. We used to measure lens performance using conventional sensors. However, we've now developed our own A1* proprietary MTF (modulation transfer function) measuring system using 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors. Applying this system, we check each lens in our new lines at our Aizu factory, our sole production site. Even previously undetectable high-frequency details are now within the scope of our quality control inspections, allowing us to deliver consistently high lens performance.
Ultra-high precision and quality - all made in Japan
Optimizing quality with our integrated production system, Sigma is focused on making things right, with our own hands and our own techniques. We are now one of the very few manufacturers whose products are solely "made in Japan." We like to think our products are somehow imbued with the essence of our homeland, blessed as it is with clean air and water, and focused, hard-working people. We pride ourselves on the authentic quality of Sigma products, born of a marriage between highly attuned expertise and intelligent, advanced technology. Our sophisticated products have satisfied professionals and lovers of photography all over the world, because our manufacturing is based on genuine craftsmanship, underpinned by the passion and pride of our experts.
A lens design ideal for a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera
The finest in materials, usability and functionality. A refined, integrated design made with the photographer in mind.
The simple shape of the focus ring, varying textures that distinguish each part of the lens, the elegantly etched product name, the use of metal on almost all external areas of the lens, the unibody design of the hood - all of these elements add up to a lens design that is ideal for mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. In addition, photographers have the choice of black or silver to match their favorite equipment. The basic concept, however, is no different from that of other Sigma lenses: responding intuitively to the photographer's intentions and performing fundamental functions at the highest level possible. The interior of the lens features a quiet and powerful linear motor, while the brass mount combines high precision with durability. Designed for use over the long term, this lens features treated surfaces, enhanced strength and overall construction of the highest quality.
