Bornite (Peacock Ore) – Location: Zacatecas, Mexico. (see photo for size details). Here we have a very colorful specimen of the copper iron sulfide mineral bornite (known as peacock ore because of its colorful tarnish). Bornite shows a wide range of bright colors from a tarnish which develops on the surface of bornite and this colorful material is known as ‘peacock’ ore. For those interested in the metaphysical, peacock Ore is often referred to as a stone of happiness or joyfulness. It is said to protect from negative energy and remove energy blockages, helping the user to enjoy the happiness of the moment. It is also said to help regulate the flow of adrenaline and to balance acidity and alkalinity within the body. It is also useful in lessening fevers and in reducing swellings. It can also lessen the effects of dehydration and help with cellular disorders.
