WW II U. S. Military Portable Officer's/Engineer's Field Desk, Crew Chief Kit, drab green, wood case, cardboard (writing?) surface front and back, metal corners and edge pieces, leather handle, canvas strap to hold lid up, no markings. I have seen one of these in metal labeled, "KIT CREW CHIEF, T. O. - 00-30-43", same design and compartments. A wooden one just like this one was made in 1941 before the U. S. entered the war. I've also seen it suggested that this is for the crew chief of an aircraft. Hard-to-find piece.

Stats: 18.5" x 13.5" x 5.5", 7 lbs.

Condition: well used; black paint on top side; 2 corner metals loose (repairable); cardboard surfaces show wear; original hinges, clasps, and handle in working condition
