- I was commissioned 1983 by the Gutmann Knife Company to scrimshaw
this commemorative limited edition series of 200 sets. I have owned
set (53/200) for 33 years and has never been used.
- The three #715 4 Star lock back knives were made in Solingen
Germany by the Puma knife company, the scales are micarta, a synthetic
material resembling ivory with inlay brass puma medallion. 4" closed, 2 7/8''blade.
- The bolsters are brass, the drop point blade is stainless steel and
Rockwell tested to a hardness of 57-59 for the perfect combination of strength and ease of sharpening.
- The scrimshaw ships are the "Spirit of Massachusetts","Flying Cloud"
and the "U.S.S. Eagle" in addition to the Donald McKay Festival Logo.

- Walnut presentation box is maroon velvet lined and fitted for each
knife. Engraved commemorative plaque is brass as well as hinges and
working lock mechanism (includes key). 9 1/4'' x 7 1/2'' x 2 1/8''.
- Excellent condition. The micarta on the side exposed to the light has darkened somewhat
and brass bolsters have age patina. (will polish for buyer if requests).
- Of course includes the "certificate of authenticity", biography of the
artist and tall ships event packet.
- Initial release price in 1983 of $2000.00.
