ANTIQUE 12" FRANZ SCHMIDT SPRAYED BISQUE-HEAD CHARACTER BABY

This sweet bisque-head doll dates from c.1920. She has 'F.S. & C. 7 Po Germany 30' moulded into the back of her head. She has a sprayed bisque head blue brown glass flirty sleeping eyes, and an open mouth with two teeth. She has painted eyebrows. She has a more modern mohair wig, which is partially loose. She has a five-piece composition bent-limb body. She is wearing a white vintage dress with a 'baby' brooch on it, a white vintage petticoat, knickers and bonnet.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There are no visible chips or cracks to her head. She has some small scuffs to the paintwork of her head, and some grubby marks. including to her chin and right-hand cheek. Her head appears a little faded. There is some significant glue residue and paint loss around the top of her head, and her wig is dishevelled and has some loss. She has some slight paint loss to her eyelids. Her composition body has some slight grubbiness and wear and some manufacturing flaws as might be expected. There is some rubbing and some small chips to her fingers and roes. Her clothing has some age related discolouration and wear and has had modern replacement ribbon fitted to the dress and bonnet.
