**A VERY RARE AI CONVERTED VERSION**

A lovely example of this classic portrait/short telephoto lens from the golden age of Nikon, converted to AI with the proper Nikon kit!

There's something about Nikon equipment, you pick it up and you're instantly aware of the seminal images of our lifetime,captured by this wonderful, cherished equipment. Never is this more apparent than when looking at a gorgeous, rare, Pro level piece of kit such as this.

A very rare AI converted 1971 Nikkor 135mm 2.8 lens. AI meaning that it will work on any Nikon SLR or DSLR body made from 1959 to the fabulous new Df! This classic lens was a staple of the Nikkor range from the introduction of The F system and is a must for any Nikon photographer. Designed for use as a long portrait or short telephoto, this is a legendary performer, wrapped up in that incredible 1960s Nikkor build quality!

The serial number shows this lens to have been produced in 1971, right at the pinnacle of Nikkor's supremacy. Like many enthusiasts, I have a deep love for Nikkors of the late 60's and early 70's. The beauty of their design is only surpassed by the staggering images they produce. Unfortunately, these lenses are not generally compatible with any Nikon SLR body produced after 1980 and stocks of the necessary conversion kits have been sold out for many years. This means that if you want one to use with any Nikon after 1980, the only option is to find one ready converted, no easy task in itself!

The example I offer here remains in nice original condition despite the past 45 years. Contemporary to the seminal Nikon F and F2 SLRs, this lovely lens has been properly converted with the Nikon kit to Ai F Mount, so is compatible with all Nikon SLRs made since 1959 and the ideal companion to any of the excellent Nikon 35mm and digital bodies currently for sale in my OTHER AUCTIONS It will also happily work with all current Nikon DSLRs. I have had great fun testing it mounted on a D7000, which offers all metering options with this lens. With adapters, I have tested identical lenses with great success on my previous Canon DSLRs and Panasonic and Olympus Micro Four Thirds bodies, adapters can also be easily obtained for the fabulous Full Frame Sony A7 range, Sony NEX and Samsung NX systems.

This particular example is in lovely condition, defying the passage of the years. The vast, front element is perfectly clear, with no scratches or flaws. There is a little internal dust visible holding the lens up to daylight, but nothing that will effect your final images. The barrel is in similarly good condition, with just the usual signs of wear from 4 decades of use. The lens looks good on any camera you attach it to, bearing that timelessly sexy late 1960s aesthetic, the barrel dark and brooding, while those massive optics bear a gorgeous violet coating which shimmers in the light.
