SIGNED K. HENRY

'With a bone in her teeth!'

The swordfish bone measuring about 13 1/2" x 2 7/8" overall (w/wooden ends).

A fantastic depiction of a fully rigged ship, during the 'Golden Age' of whaling. Home from months at sea, followed by two HOT AIR BALLOONS!!

This one has always been my favorite. Jesus himself was my inspiration for this artwork!

I was very moved when the display was finished, and very appreciative of His help!.

A photo of the massive solid oak, beveled, display board is shown. Hand carved oak tabs (2) on top will rotate to allow access/or not. I made this for our family maybe 33 years ago, and only made this one oak display board for it. Has a flat urethane finish to match the sword bone. It will hang vertically on a small nail/peg.

Your ideas are welcome!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Please look closely at the pictures, much care was given to fine detail.

The wood on the butt ends is laminated mahogany and oak hand glued and finished with a flat polyurethane. The bill surface has a very fine, ivory-like, 'smooth  texture which allows for beautiful expression. The underside, (which is really the top side) of the sword is smooth and clean. The traditional India ink used is very stable, but would come off with moderate scraping, or excessive handling (skin oils). There has been absolutely no noticeable degradation of ink in more then 35 years. I am still amazed! This one is old, see how well it has aged. Other then a nice patina, no degradation visible. Ink is even more durable then brand new, as it seems to 'cure' instead of to just dry.

eBay has made it known to me that the species (Xiphias gladius) should constantly be mentioned, or it will be automaticly removed from listings.

Please keep in mind these lines are all drawn freehand, and magnifier is used throughout the process.

Shipped in a durable, well packaged tube or box in this case.

Insurance will be up to me. No worries!.

*PO box addresses can only be insured up to $200. NOT RECOMMENDED!  (And I won't do it.)

The last photo shows a "fresh from the boat" view! This particular bill is from a SCUBA dive I had made under two Newport sword-fishing boats in Newport harbor about 35 years ago. THIS WAS BEFORE I EVEN KNEW WHAT I WAS GOING TO DO WITH THEM! Although I had learned the art of scrimshawing, 'scrimming', it had become a real issue with killing whales around 1969, which I respect. Sadly, there are no more sword fishing boats that I know of in Newport, any more, and only a few left in New Bedford, MA.
