Here is the May 1979 (Vol. 1 issue 1) issue of Overthrow magazine from New York City. Overthrow was a political newspaper published by the Yippies, who also founded Rock Against Racism USA (later evolved into Rock Against Reagan) in 1979. Because they fronted RAR the newspaper covered the bands that appeared at RAR events.

In this issue Lenny Kaye (of Patti Smith Group) is on the cover. On the music side there is an interview with Kenny Kaye, a concert review of Patti Smith Group, write ups on 999, Speedies, Stiletto's Fad (aka Stiletto; a pre-Blondie band), B-52s, Panic Squad (Clash types from NYC), short write-ups on Invaders, Heat, Scruffs, Senders (all NYC Power Pop bands), Joy Ryder & Avis Davis, and a negative article on Elvis Costello with a cartoon. On the back cover there is a very nice photo of Stiv Bators with Brooke Shields

On the political side there are articles about Marijuana, boat people, nukes, abortion, sexism and racism.

There are also photos, letters and comix.

It's printed on newsprint.

There is a small tear at the top left corner and there is some browning.
