Offering for sale this framed set of 7 oval portrait miniatures which I believe depict Mughal Emperors and possibly Safavid Persian rulers (i.e. Shah Abbas). I believe they date from the early 19th century and originate from North India. Each portrait is finely hand painted on a natural wafer and measures 2.75 inches high and just over 2 inches wide. They are set within a gilt mount and have a gesso frame which has a small gilt plaque attached describing them as 'Turkish Sultans' although I believe this is incorrect. The frame measures 14.5 inches wide and 17.5 inches high.
