Trader-BOB's MUSIC on Facebook offers a 1950' - 1960'S Kay Galaxy Semi Hollow Bodied Electric Guitar. (Someone has changed to a strat style neck). Thinline, body thickness at the edge, is a consistant 1-7/8" all the way around. Single cutaway, very pointed. Multi layer binding, on the front, single layer on the back. 42" overall length, lower bout measures, 14-7/8", the waist, 9-1/8", and the upper bout, 10-5/8", The body length is 19-3/8". There are no markings inside the body, as far as I can see. Looking at the top thickness at the "F" holes, it measures real close to .220", may be laminant. Looking inside with a mirror, I cannot see any interior support post, or any other markings. The pickup is unique looking, plastic covered, with a square grid pattern. It is a Barney Kessel design, "Kleenex Box" pickup. Number ID on the bottom of the pickup is, 030264, no other ID. The electronics all work, the volume, and tone pots both need cleaning, and lubricating. The control knobs both slip on the stems, like they are not the correct ones for the pot shafts. The distance on this neck, nut to the 12th fret is 12-11/16", which would make the scale length, 25-3/8". The floating bridge is placed on the "Shadow" of the original placement, and is 26-3/8". The bridge is moveable to get the scale length, into the intonation range of the neck. The neck base has been narrowed to fit the cavity in the body, but was never refinished where it was shaved, see pix #7. The neck relief is .006", and the string action height is .070", no buzz. The neck is adjustable trussrod reinforced. This sounds and plays well. There are some marrs, and dings, but overall in good shape. With a refinish it would be a way cool vintage guitar.
