A Beautiful and Quite Rare *J. Rouse* (James Rouse) 8.5" (21.5cm) Cabinet Display Plate. Hand Painted to the Centre with a Colourful Spray of Flowers and Foliage framed within a Gilt Band enhanced with Raised Gilt Dots. The Rim is Decorated with Gilt Flowers and Foliage with Raised Detailing and Beading. Having a Shaped Edge also Enhanced with a Gilt Band. Signed by the Artist 'J. Rouse' - with no visible marks to the base - this is possibly from this period at Samson Hancock in the 1870's/80's since it is signed, however it could be from his earlier period at Derby since he was there working as an Apprentice Flower Painter alongside great Artists such as 'Quaker', 'Pegg', 'Robertson' etc. from c.1815-1830. A Super Piece that would be sure to enhance any Home, Cabinet or Collection.

In Very Good Antique condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. The Hand Painted Floral Decoration is clear and vibrant with some signs of age related wear and tear. The Gilt Decoration is also in Very Good condition with some age related wear and tear. There are signs of peppering around the shoulder of the plate.There is also peppering to the foot of the plate.There are some very short, fine hairline surface scratches.
