Here we
have a really lovely Zenta Telecaster type guitar from the 1960's or early
1970s. Up until 1967 they were made in Japan by Teisco as this one was. When
Teisco was taken over by Kawai, Kawai continued making them up until the early
1970's. Teisco & Kawai both were well known for producing basically the
same guitar for different brands. This was one of many short scale
neck entry level guitars that were imported for the British market in the 60's and 70's and then sold through high
street shops like Woolworths (‘Audition’ was another MIJ make they sold back in
the day).
This example is in stunning condition for its age
and is absolutely all original. The exceptionally clean guitar is going on for
40 to 50 years old and there are some slight knocks and scuffs but only one
significant chip on the bottom edge (see pictures). The paint is all original
and has a lovely shine on both the front and rear. The lovely adjustable neck
is dead straight with plenty of life left in the frets. It has an adjustable
bridge and has quite a low action for such an old entry level guitar. The strings
on the guitar are new (although not expensive ones) and it is all working as it should with a really pleasing 60's
sound.
Please do look at the pictures carefully
to assess the condition of this 'rare’ vintage guitar. These guitars are highly
collectable now but are very hard to find in such a lovely original working condition
like this one. Currently being used as a 'wall art' display item in our office / study it has been well cared for over the years.
The guitar will be very well packed in plenty of bubble wrap for
shipment although collection from Alpraham Cheshire would also be very welcome. Any questions please ask and we will do our best to answer.
