1964 Vintage Ladies Omega Solid 9ct Gold Watch & Bracelet – Fully Serviced (269)

This very nice ladies Omega watch, with integral bracelet, is in Solid 9ct gold weighing 21g total (with 17g net 9ct gold content), with a lovely circular 19mm diameter case. It is fully serviced following a complete strip down, clean, reassembly, and correct lubrication and timing. It has a full set of matching hallmarks and movement serial number all from 1964.

This watch is in great condition and looks quite beautiful, and clearly has been looked after over its 50+ years. There is little wear to speak of on the entire watch, which is made up of an intricate heavy gold weave bracelet, fixed to the fully hallmarked casing and bracelet ends. A rare find, this watch retains its original gold capped crown, which also has minimal wear suggesting the watch has been reserved for less frequent use.

The case and bracelet have been very carefully ultrasonically cleaned as part of the service, using only water with a few drops of soap solution to loosen any trapped debris. No abrasive polishing agents have been used at all, and with light use of a cotton cloth the gold is now in beautiful gleaming condition. The elegant bracelet is very gently tapered and lies smoothly against the wrist contours. It is integral to the solid gold bezel/case and is finished with fully hallmarked clasp fittings, with a very secure 2-stage clasp locking arrangement (much better than the safety chain type). There is a nice pierced Omega symbol to the clasp, and two adjustment positions covering approx. 5mm, and will fit a maximum wrist circumference of 170mm. With perfect clasp gold joint connections I suspect the bracelet length is just as it was when sold to the original owner. Please note that as with most bracelets of this woven design there is some variation in flex along the bracelet length, but this does not affect its presentation on the wrist.

The bright solid gold case back is hallmarked ‘9’, ‘.375’ with date code letter ‘i’ for 1964, and with the London assay office leopards head stamp. It also bears the ‘OWC’ Omega Watch Co. makers mark, and case type number 7115500. There are three further sets of ‘9’, ‘.375’ hallmarks on the clasp links along with the bracelet makers mark ‘DS & S’, plus a repeat of the year and assay office stamps within the clasp itself.

The Omega dial is in great original condition with a beautifully subtle vertical brush effect satin silver tone, and it has a raised gold Omega symbol with signature in clear black capitals. The beautiful baton hands are plain black with gold centres, and match the raised black/gold hour markers perfectly. The contrast against the dial makes it very easy to read the time. Please note that the witness marks at the outer edge of the dial where it makes contact with the casing are not visible in the assembled watch due to the bezel overhang design.

The existing crystal has had the benefit of a light hand polish with specialist crystal compound to reduce the appearance of any residual blemishes, before being expertly re-fitted to the bezel.

The movement is the desirable 17 jewel Omega calibre 620 with serial number 21158120 from 1964 manufacture. The date matches that of the gold casing and bracelet, so we can be sure this is an original factory match. It has been subject to a comprehensive strip down, cleaning and servicing, reassembly, correct lubrication and timing. Needless to say it is running beautifully and strongly, at mid-point adjustment lever position and keeping excellent time. It sets and winds perfectly from the beautiful dustproof gold capped crown which bears the Omega symbol.

As with most vintage watches, it no longer has its original Omega sale paperwork/booklet or box.

Please note that this vintage watch is not of a water resistant or waterproof design. The case type, along with the self-seal crown are of ‘dustproof’ design.

Only the best Moebius oils and grease have been used and applied correctly during the comprehensive service (types 9010, 9020, 8200, 8300).

A near-perfect example of a beautifully designed ladies solid gold Omega watch with fully matching hallmarks and serial numbers.

Important:-  Please read the following notes - do not bid if you are in any way unhappy with them:

1. For All Items:

Unless otherwise stated, used items have normal wear and tear commensurate with age, and all age/date detail is approximate. No guarantees or warranties given after dispatch. Postage claims and insurance cover are the responsibility of the buyer, regardless of the seller options offered. No refunds for cosmetic or non-functional defects. Any returns must be received in the same condition as originally sent by the seller, and are subject only to there being a significant deviation from the above photos and description. All descriptors (such as ‘good’ ‘excellent’ ‘superb’, or similar) are used in context with the items age and reasonably expected usage/wear over its lifetime, are subjective in that they are the opinion of the seller, and as such might not necessarily be shared by the buyer. The images form the primary description and the item is ‘sold as photographed’, please study the pictures carefully as they take precedence over all written information. The item description is given in good faith; I am not a professional expert so cannot be responsible for any omissions, but I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

2. In Addition, for Watches and Clocks:

Used and vintage/antique timepieces are limited in their ability and their consistency to deliver continuous and accurate time regulation due to factors such as: Inherent design, age, condition/wear, user handling, service history, storage and environmental conditions, transit handling, user winding habits/frequency, and are part of the character and appeal of owning these collectable items. This finite ability should not be unduly overestimated, and certainly should not be compared to the expectations of that of modern-day timepieces. I consider a tolerance of +/-3 minutes per day accuracy to be good, and +/-1 min per day to be excellent (and most of my wrist watches are even better than this). Following shipment it is expected that any timepiece will need a period of settling and adjustment to its time regulation, regardless of the sellers item description at the time of sale. This should be performed by a qualified and competent person at the buyers expense. In addition, unless specifically described as “fully” serviced/cleaned, it is to be assumed that all timepieces will require some level of service/repair from the time of their receipt, and at the buyers expense. Buyers should make allowances for this potential expense when bidding. Vintage watches have no guarantee of being waterproof regardless of their design or wording, and you should assume and care for them as though they are not. The seller accepts no returns or liability from damage or problems arising from buyer initiated access to, and intervention with watch/clock movements, casings and other components. The seller accepts no liability or claims relating to issues arising from any advice or guidance given in good faith after the time of sale.

Please do not bid if you are in any way unhappy with the above. Thanks.
