A rarely seen AI converted example of the classic 'K' version of the classic 28mm F2.8 Nikkor. This lens would have left the factory with the pre AI mount, but thanks to its conversion, with the correct Nikon kit, it is now compatible with every Nikon SLR and DSLR made from 1959 to today. I have been testing it on my D7000 with excellent results.
Nikkor have offered a 28/2.8 for many years. The serial number dates this incredible example to Circa 1975, right at the pinnacle of Nikkor's technical supremacy. Like many enthusiasts, I have a deep love for the manual Nikkors of this era, the beauty of their design is only surpassed by the staggering images they produce. These lenses really are legendary and in terms of digital compatible lenses are amongst the very best you will find to pair with your modern Digital body.
Contemporary to the seminal Nikon F2 and FM SLRs, this lovely lens is compatible with all Nikon SLRs and DSLRs made since 1959, right up to the amazing new Df! It is an ideal companion to any of the excellent Nikon bodies currently for sale in my OTHER AUCTIONS With appropriate adapters, it can also happily be used with Canon DSLRs, Fuji X, Samsung NX and Sony NEX and Micro Four Thirds as well as Nikon's own 1 Series and the lovely new Sony A7/ and A7r.
This particular example is in truly excellent condition, having obviously been well looked after. The vast, wide open front glass is perfectly clear, save for one single, tiny scratch and there is no dust visible holding the lens up to daylight. The focus and aperture rings move as smoothly as you would hope from a Nikon lens and remain light and constant. The barrel is almost completely unmarked, while the optics bear that gorgeous Nikkor NIC multicoating which shimmers with a very fetching magenta hue.
Traditionally, the 28mm is regarded as a wide angle lens, but it lends itself to much, much more, the legendary speed of the 2.8 version makes it the ideal partner for many kinds of photography, from a simple group snap or sweeping landscape to a closeup portrait or all encompassing interior. I have adored my time with this lens and if It was not so minty, I would keep it in a heartbeat, but as things are, It is frankly just too good for me!
