Sam Haskins was a South African born British photographer, who moved to London in 1968. He is best known for his contribution to nude photography, especially his three 60s black & white erotic/art photobooks Five Girls, Cowboy Kate, and November Girl. Haskins pioneered new ways of photographing the female nude - employing innovative experiments in black-and-white printing, photographic grain, image collaging, cropping and book design, and his work was a great influence on fashion designers, film makers and photographers of the day, and since (e.g. David Bailey, Wingate Paine, Jeanloup Sieff, Yves Saint Laurent, Steven Meisel, Nick Knight, along with Madonna's Sex book).
