Coefficient of Expansion
The coefficient of expansion describes how the size of an object changes with a change in temperature, but a huge misunderstanding has been adopted by the fusing community. Most Glass Artists now believe that the compatibility or “fit” of two glasses is solely a function of their expansion properties, this has led to an overemphasis on “expansion” and the numerical value of the coefficient of expansion (CoE) of glass.
Artists continually ask us for the CoE of a glass, hoping to predict whether it will “fit” other fusing glass in their
studios. We say the same thing each time: 'Matching CoEs is simply not an accurate measure of compatibility'. They are other factors involved such as the viscosity (resistance to flow) characteristics of a glass which
are equally important as its expansion characteristics. This also determines whether one glass will fit another. To confuse the issue further, even though the glass from different manufacturers may state a CoE of 90 there can be a minute difference which could also affect the compatibility. Our manufactures have measured the CoE of this glass and the results show that the glass has a CoE of 90. Fusitt Glass is tested to be compatible with each other and we cannot guarantee compatibility with glass from other manufacturers, It’s always best to do your own testing on various glass.

About Us
Fusitt is now one of the cheapest suppliers of fusing glass here in the UK and Europe
Whether you are an experienced glass fusing artist, a beginner or a teacher, we hope we can supply you with everything you need to create stunning projects. In early 2013, Glass Artists from West Yorkshire found themselves struggling to find good quality fusing glass and equipment for their beloved hobby here in the
UK. After an extensive search, they found a manufacturer that sold fusible glass much cheaper and just as good as the famous American brands, and now want to pass these savings on to the fusing community.
We are based in Bradford, West Yorkshire and constantly working to build our business into something special by offering exceptional Customer Service and passing
on our knowledge and advice to assist you with your current and future projects. We encourage our customers to stay in touch and share their ideas and
projects, hoping to build a large community of fellow fusers.
