Up for sale is probably one of the most famous Steinway & Sons concert model D grand pianos ever sold!! No jokes!! 

This piano is available to purchase for any Historian, Professional player, Collector or wealthy Individual who wants to own something so magnificent, a historic Steinway of unreal significance, literally a one of a kind piano that was owned by one of the most famous people ever to live! 

What we have for sale today is definitely the rarest Steinway piano we have ever had in our inventory and that is not just because its a rare custom art case model D concert grand, its more so because it was bought new by one of the most famous people ever, the richest man ever to live by the name of John D. Rockefeller himself. The caliber of this Steinway piano should be  compared to Steinway like the one in The White House. It was ordered by Mr. Rockefeller himself at the turn of the century in the year of 1891, sent to a famous turn of the century custom cabinet maker in NYC by the name of Joseph Cabus and after 2 months was delivered to his home in upstate NY. Piano is encased in stunning Flame satinwood veneer and has a custom made case which includes carved cherubs on the arms, carved cabinetry on legs, lyre and music rack. There really is no tangible value of price we can attach to this magnificent instrument and its history as there is really nothing we can compare it to? Just alone without any of the provenance we would estimate it to be worth on a wholesale level anywhere from $300,000 and up but with the history attached honestly its almost priceless!! 

Piano as it sits now is all original and we are offering 2 options and both included in the price.                                                  1. We can sell it "as is" if someone wants it in an all original state. 2. We can have if fully rebuilt in our NY location to bring it back to its former original glory. 

Piano is in NJ where it can be viewed and played and at that time we will have more pictures etc to supply for potential buyers. Many more pics to come as well as all the original Steinway documentation authenticating all the history and provenance that this unreal Steinway piano comes with! There are some other famously owned Steinway's that have come up for sale in the past and some of them are stunning as well but I don't believe any of them were as rare as this one for a number of reasons.                                                                                                                               

 1. This one was owned and ordered bought NEW from Steinway for the richest man ever to live, it was not bought at a later date in time by Mr Rockefeller rather on the actual orders from Steinway its states that it was ordered by Mr. Rockefeller and that it was sent to a famous artisan to customize the case and  

2. Any famous rare steinway Ive ever seen (and there are not many ever made) from the turn of the century was usually a model A or B but not a concert grand model D. In general I've rarely ever seen art case model D's and definitely never seen such a rare custom art case model D owned by someone as famous as JOHN D.
