GOD'S SHADOW is a collection of poems written by Reza Baraheni. Savage and tender by turns, they introduce to the English speaking world an outstanding Iranian poet and critic (now in exile in the United States).
Originally composed in Persian and now translated into English by the poet himself, the 41 poems are haunting and disturbing reflections on the author's arrest by the Iranian secret police early in the fall of 1973 and his detention for a period of 102 days.
The precise grounds for Baraheni's imprisonment were never specified, but his political views, which were - and remain-highly critical of the government of Iran, appear to be behind it.
This book has been signed by the Reza Baraheni. The inscription reads:
For Milt Wolpin and our Revolution May 20, 1977
