WWII US Airborne Reinforced Jump Jacket Identified Original:

Up for auction today we have an exceptional, 100% original WWII jump jacket. The pockets and elbow patches are WWII period applied reinforcements. Overall condition is very nice. All zippers work, all snaps present and work with the exception of the two upper left pocket. The upper left pocket snaps have been slightly bent and do not want to close. There is some overall staining and wear, and there are a few small fingertip or smaller sized holes. The two largest holes are on each sleeve. Approximately two inches of the lower left front pocket have become unstitched from the body of the garment. It stops where the reinforcement starts. See photos for a better look. Very nice for a combat worn jacket. The Vet's name is written on the front left chest in ink, and is also inked on the inside. He was a member of service company, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He is in the roster and his name is Hiester W. Haeseler. The belt is real and is not attached to the jacket, and appears to be a possible period replacement. All insignia and reinforcement is original and has been there since the Vet and/or riggers applied it during the war. Original unaltered reinforced jump jackets are hard to find. This one was on display at the Show of Shows several years ago, and has been seen and handled by many advanced Airborne collectors a this show. Everyone we spoke with unconditionally approved of the authenticity of this piece. Included are two period photographs with the Vet, who is depicted wearing glasses. The person we acquired this from was friends with the Vet which is how we came to have it. An incredible, rare opportunity. Paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne fought at Sicily, Italy, Normandy during D Day, in Holland during Market Garden, and in Belgium during the famous Battle of the Bulge.
