8395 Minton Majolica Vase

Description

An early 20th century Minton vase.  It seems to combine the Art Nouveau with Mintons Secessionist designs.  The vase is a pottery body and is covered in a majolica glaze which has been allowed to run down the body.

Underneath the glaze is a stylish outlined design which is flat rather than tubelined as the Secessionist example usually are.  As you can see the design is quite typical of the Secessionist movement.  It is possible this was an early design which lead to the Secessionist marked pieces.

To the base is the Mintons mark and plenty of glaze accumulation from firing.  A stylish piece of Minton art pottery

Condition

It has the usual crazing associated with majolica pieces from this period.  A couple of minor glaze chips around the base.  There are a couple of tiny pieces of kiln frit adhered to the surface.
