1953 Vincent Series C  Black Shadow.

If you want a great bike don't dilly Dally it won't last much longer

Relisting , it didn't sell last time , but see the movie I created  and you might get the urge. One like this costs a little more than a rough one, or a non matching number one. Don't think anyone , will be disapointed in this bike.

Take a  look at,You( U )know where. ( Vincent Black Shadow1953 For Sale)

A Concourse restoration of an original Black Shadow. This bike has been owned by three owners since new, each one a member of the Southern California Section of the VOC.  Its origin and history is completely documented since new. It has correct matching numbers and matching mating Numbers .

I’m proud to say it was restored by my two friends ,Dick Busby and Haig Altounian , two of the leading Vincent restoration experts . Dick passed a few years ago and Haig continues to restore Vincents . They have done some of the Worlds finest Vincents , for the likes of Jay Leno, Herb Harris , Mitch Talcove and numerous other discriminating collectors .

This bike was ordered in 1952 and delivered from England to  San Francisco in 1952.

The bike is equipped with standard 20” front and rear wheels , it has standard Shadow ten bolt hubs and steel rims . They are painted with black centers and red pin striping , the spokes are stainless. Most nut and bolt hardware, has been done in stainless steel. It of course has an original large Shadow speedo . The fenders are polished aluminum , it has a stainless muffler . 12 Volt conversion electrics .  Like new  Avon Speed Master tires . The seat was done by Michael Mastes and paint is an awesome example ,of the work done by Wayne Griffith, which will impress the most discriminating judge.

It is a correct restoration, done with the correct parts and restored by Masters at their craft . The Girdraulics front end , the flywheels , rods and all internal engine parts were brought to better than new condition. The mag was rebuilt ,as were all working and moving parts . This bike is as good as it gets .  Although the bike was restored a number of years ago, the previous owner and my self have driven it only occasionally. We have kept it protected in a climate controlled environment . It has been started and had fluids changed regularly. I personally have ridden it about five times per year for the last  six years . It runs strong and pulls like a train. I have had five Vincents and this is the best running of the bunch. Its very fast.  I have enjoyed this bike a great deal, but the time has come to pass it on.

It starts easy, idles well and runs strong.

The bike has all original parts or the best available reproductions , in cases like rims , bulbs or tires. The clutch is the original and functions well, but as is the case, with most Vincent clutches ,it has a tendency to snatch slightly, at take off, from a stop. I suggest the clutch be  rebuilt by a specialist or be replaced with the new upgraded clutch , available from the VOC spares Company.  I hope the new owner will ride it often and suggest minor clutch work be done in that case . This bike has been driven approximately 1200 miles since its restoration and been well sorted . The engine internals are quiet and smooth. If you have experience with Shadows , you will be impressed by this machines power . It is a very good one.

I tried to buy a Black shadow in 1968 for $1500. And was out bid by a buyer at $1800. Over the following years I tried again and again to buy the elusive Shadow at 2K ,2500. 5500. And so on. Always just a little to high for my minds eye. I kept thinking it would slow down or that I would find a steal of a deal. Well In fifty years they have never gone down in value, not even during economic collapse. I was finally able to buy one when I realized they sell for what they are worth and the best of them appreciate the quickest. I have seen Shadows sell recently for as little as 100K which had wrong numbers and needed full restoration. This is one of the best and ready to show or ride with impeccable history.

The bike is a 1953 Series C Black Shadow. Matching Numbers , matching mating #'s and in concourse condition. I have not ridden it much, but spent a lot of time sorting it . Runs very strong , with no oil leaks . Installed a crank breather  (hidden), that works well. Went thru the front forks and lubed them and adjusted for a good ride. Its completely stock, no mods , so it would make an excellent show bike as well as a rider. Paint is near perfect with a scratch or two on the rear licenseplate holder .All fasteners are stainless, as well as stainless excluders. Alloy mud guards. You may notice a hand lever attached to the shift lever in some photos, this was to aid my shifting ,due to a leg injury. It has been removed and is stock trim.

This beautiful Black Shadow ,comes with Clear Michigan title , Bill of Sale, and  works order form.  Most collectors are aware that the Vincent Series C Black Shadow has increased steadily in value for the last fifty years and is one of the most desirable bikes on the market.  It should be  a no risk investment . The winning bidder should send a deposit of $1000. Within 48 hours via pay-pal and full payment via wire transfer within 7 days from end of bidding.  I have a long history of excellent feed back and have sold quite a few bikes on ebay. With Happy customers . The bike is ,as described , but sold as they all are , without warranty or guarantees. If you need to view the bike before buying ,then , make that arrangement before bidding. I will be glad to show the bike to any qualified serious buyer , if you are out of the area , contact one of the Southern California Section members and maybe they could check it out for you. Many of them know the bike. I always honor the terms of sale of sellers I buy from and expect the same. I expect payments on time. Please look closely at the photos and please only bid if you have the funds and will go thru with the sale and terms of sale in a timely manner. That is only fair to me and other bidders. Shipping will be at the buyers expense. I will supply any normal bill of sale , but if this bike is exported the export documents and required extra work will be upto the buyer.  If you have less than 10 feedbacks you will need to contact me before bidding.    Have fun bidding and it should be interesting to see where the bidding ends. Thanks to all .  I’m known to many Vincent owners and a long time member of the VOC. The full Vin # is not listed to protect all from ficticous listings or copy cat listings.
