1878 Mintons Hand Painted Strawberries Plate
A beautifully hand painted plate by Minton of Stoke, Staffordshire.
The plate has a very realistic strawberry plant in the centre, with flower and fruits. The fruit has a stippled paint effect to mimic the seeds. It is surrounded by a crazy pattern border which is painted aquamarine with gilded borders.
The back of the plate is stamped with the set of three marks that indicate the potter, the month and the year of manufacture. This correlates to June 1878 and it also has the MINTONS stamp. The S was added to MINTON in 1873.
A very collectable piece in good condition.
