For anyone looking for a sweet bass that looks back to classic J-style basses to get solid J-bass tones, this is the axe for you. The color combination is overflowing with class, matching a deep brown/red pearlloid tortoise pickguard and chrome hardware with a goss finished swamp ash body, equipped with Schecter's Pasadena J-Set pickups. The pickups really growl in this bass and can hit an insane number of tones like the classic J-basses could. Schecter started out as an aftermarket parts and pickup company, so it makes perfect sense that these pickups rule. From Wooten to Pastorius to Miller, this bass can hit it all. The swamp ash body not only makes for a lighter weight bass, but for a well-focused lower midrange and a smooth low end. The highs on this bass are clear and articulate that picks up on slaps really well but aren't invasive on the low end, a really clear sounding bass. The active electronics are a master tone and separate volume knobs for each pickup. With distortion or fuzz, the sound expands tremendously and sounds rediculously heavy and over the top. The neck on this guitar is a bright maple with a darker sounding soft rosewood fretboard that balances out the swamp ash in the body sonically, adding a slight scoop in the upper midrange with a boost in the low mids. This bass is superb and replicates all the sounds you'd ever need to recreate those classic sounds with a modern twist.
