Practical Wireless was founded in 1932 as a supplement by FJ Camm  (Brother of Sir Sydney Camm), of George Newnes Publishers. It became an independent weekly in that year, then monthly in 1940 (due to wartime paper shortages). Camm was editor until his death in 1959: It was often referred to affectionately as 'Camm's Comic'. 

Clive Sinclair was allegedly, for a period, the assistant editor for Practical Wireless, after writing articles for them since his school days. Sinclair Radionics also advertised their products extensively in the magazine. However, his involvement as anything other than a freelance contributor has been disputed. 

The magazine covered mainly wireless (radio) topics, and is packed with articles and practical plans and projects.

Our Mission

After buying a magazine online and being very disappointed with my purchase, I decided it was time to offer a better product and service than was currently available.

Therefore, when buying a magazine from us we guarantee that:

  • The overall integrity of the item remains intact

  • Although the magazine is used, it will not have excessive wear

  • The pages will be clearly legible and complete

  • The photograph is of the actual item being sold

    • The items we sell are hand picked and are usually from collections and while we are committed to delivering the highest level of service, which is reflected in our loyal customers feedback remarks, it must be reminded that these are used items that have been read before.  We only list magazines that are in good condition with pages that are clearly legible. We recognise that there is interest in older magazines that are 30 years or more, these may have corrosion to the staples that may bleed into the paper slightly and the spine may have signs of wear or minor damage and or dust or storage marks.

    In the unlikely event your item does not meet your expectations, please message us and we will refund your full purchase price.

    Our Prices

    We set highly competitive prices for all our products, with regular checks against our online eBay competitors. If in the unlikely event our item can be found on eBay in a similar condition for less, we will be happy to consider an offer.

    Best Offer

    The Best Offer Feature is a fantastic way for our buyers to always get the best deal and for us to keep competitive on eBay. If our item can be found for less on eBay in a similar condition, our customers have the option to submit an offer for us to consider. If an offer is submitted to us, we will review our price against our competitors price and if the offer is fair and reasonable then we will accept.

    If the offer is too low but close to a price that would be acceptable, we may counter the offer. If we counter the offer, this will be our final price as we don't accept counter offers. If the offer submitted is so low, for example half the original list price, we will view the offer as a malicious or a wasted offer and we will simply ignore it without response. The Best Offer feature should only be used when our item is not the lowest BUYITNOW on eBay and in a like for like condition. We never consider offers when our item is already the lowest price available. 

    Postage & Delivery

    We take great care packing every item to ensure safe shipment to you. We post daily Monday to Friday with the aim to have your purchase arrive within the expected delivery time slot as shown above in the Estimated Arrival dates window. If your item fails to show within the expected time and we all know just how frustrating that can be, please contact us first to make us aware of the delay. It is very unusual these days for post not to arrive but please be reasonable and aware that post can be delayed from time to time, and post at seasonal times will be more likely to be delayed. All we ask is that you don't take your frustration of the postal service out on us as we are here to help.

    Returns

    Your satisfaction is very important to us. Please contact us via the methods available within eBay regarding any problems before leaving negative feedback, we are only human and mistakes do happen. In the unlikely event of a mistake occurring, We aim to rectify the issue in a pleasant and swift way. Any defects, damages or material differences with your item must be reported to us within 7 days of receipt of the item or 30 days from date of shipment.
     
    We refund within 3 days of the item being returned. We will not refund without the item being returned to us. This is not only to protect us from fraudulent claims but without the returned item we are unable to make improvements to our service. The returned merchandise must be postmarked within 30 days of the shipment notification. Non-deliveries must be reported within 30 days of Shipment Notification.
