What is the meaning of "cold-pressed?"
"Cold-pressed" is a method of mechanical extraction that uses very minimal heat. It is a grade above "expeller-pressed." Expeller pressed oils are subjected to some heat caused by friction due to high pressure. For this reason, cold-pressed oil tends to be more expensive, although it is also of higher quality.

Coconut oil is good for many ailments, from wounds, burns, lice, ect. It also has anti-microbal activity. Coconut oil is an edible oil that has been consumed in tropical places for thousands of years. Studies done on native diets high in coconut consumption show that these populations are generally in good health, and don't suffer as much from many of the modern diseases of western nations.
Coconut oil was once prevalent in western countries like the United States as well. With a long shelf life and a melting point of 76 degrees, it was a favorite in the baking industry. Personally, we really enjoy using Botany Works Sweet Almond Oil or Virgin Coconut Oil for massage. It feels so light on the skin and for those who like their oils as simple and all natural as possible, it doesn't get any better than this.
For added therapeutic value, we like to add a 5-6 drops of Botany Works essential oil such as Lavender, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree or Chamomile to a few tbsp of the massage oil right before massage. It smells great and the qualities of each essential oil protect the skin too.
