Highly Fluorescent and Phosphorescent "CAVE ONYX"

Also Know As Calcite Flow Stone.

Although Called Cave Onyx This was not collected from a cave.

It was collected from Corydon Crushed Stone Quarry Corydon Ind in 1991

The Calcite Flow Stone formed between the fractures in the limestone.

There was an area about 20 feet x 30 feet and almost a foot thick in places.

When the calcite was in a liquid state it flowed into the cracks of the limestone rock then solidifyed.

These pieces as they cooled have seemed to have formed/Or have tried to form crystals on the top.

These are fluorescent under both long and short wave UV. However Long wave is best

Some may be bluish white or yellowish under the UV,

Once UV light is off they phosphoresce for a brief amount of time. Fading from blue/white or yellow) to a faint green or faint yellow color.

Note: I try to captue the true color of the fluorescent mineral. Fluorescent color intensity varies depending on strength of lamp used.
The picture was taken witb 2 lamps on either side. and my camera set for a 2 second exposure.

Note: The bright white ones are due to over exposure while taking the picture.
