Fragrant Granadilla (Passiflora alata) 20 seeds






 

Passiflora alata, the wingstem passionflower, also known as the fragrant granadilla, is native from Brazil, and is grown in many warm areas in the world.

This vigorous evergreen climber has entire leaves, and showy fragrant flowers, which are crimson, with purple and white filaments. The fruits are edible.

This passionflower is not very hardy, but may withstand about 28°F (-2°C) frosts.

The evergreen leaves of the wingstem passionflower are entire, and may reach up to 6 in long (15 cm) and 4 in wide (10 cm) 

The fragrant granadilla has showy and scented flowers, which are up to 5 in wide (12 cm), with crimson petal/sepals and white and purple striped filaments. 

The wingstem passionfruit is an ovoid golden to orange fruit. These fruits are about 4 in (10 cm) long. They are edible and quite popular in Brazil.
