Beautiful, vintage handwoven cotton and dyed African indigo fabric, made by the Dogon in Mali. Textiles are dyed with the resist, stitch, tie dying technique and each piece is unique. All the ones I will be listing are hard to find, older indigo pieces in very good conditon, with the old dyed patterns, and all were used and soft from wear and washing.

This piece has 7 hand woven cotton panels hand-stitched together; approximately 36" x 50”; then stitch dyed with an overall oval pattern (that looks like “mouths” to me, but was told it may represent “shells”) and stitch dyed “X’s” on one end. Very good-excellent condition with no major holes, damage, or problems that I can see; ends are  not hemmed and there is some unravelling; some wear or fading at one side.

I was lucky to have first choice of several large containers of textiles as they arrived directly from Africa, and have many that I will be selling. I chose pieces in the best condition and/or those with the most unique and collectible designs. I will note or photograph any damage or problems. Please continue to watch my site as I continually add more pieces for you to view.
