This lovely figurine is "Sweets to the Sweet" from the highly prized "Favorite Sayings" series made in the 1960's.  She is pictured on page 33 in the blue book, "Josef Originals, A Second Look".  "Sweets to the Sweet" is very rare and hard to find, especially in such nice condition as this one is!

This pretty girl is wearing a bright, robin's egg blue dress with a full skirt and short, puffy sleeves.  She is holding a round box of candy in her right arm and has the lid to the candy box in her left hand.  There is a lot of shiny, 24 karat gold on this figurine that makes her sparkle and shine!  The bottom of the girl's dress is covered with lots of lacy gold sponging all the way around.  Her neckline and bottoms of the sleeves are outlined in shiny gold gilt.  She has a large, shiny gold bow in her hair.  The candy box is outlined in gold and the lid has a shiny gold ribbon on the top and gold all around the edges.  The candy in the box is multi-colored pastels.  The lid of the candy box has "Candy" lettered on it in dark blue cursive and there are red dots on the lid.  The girl's light brown hair is piled high atop her head and soft curls frame her face.  Her face is expertly hand-painted with rosy cheeks, large black eyes & eyelashes, delicate eyebrows and cherry red lips.  She is very detailed and beautiful!

This figurine is in excellent, vintage condition!  She had two small paint flecks in her hair that I have touched up with matching paint and clear glaze and they aren’t noticeable now.  Besides that she is in perfect condition everywhere else.  "Josef Originals C" is clearly inscribed in the clay on the bottom of the piece. There is also an oval, black & gold “Japan” foil sticker on the bottom.  Someone has written the number 408-2 in pen on the bottom.  This girl is approximately 4" tall and 3 1/4" wide and has a glossy glaze.  Her colors are rich and vibrant and the glaze and gold gilt are bright and shiny!  You will love this sweet Sweets girl!  She would be perfect for Easter!
