The plant in the first photo is of one of our adult, offset producing plants.  The plant in the remaining photos is the plant for sale. Note the beautiful light green-yellow mid-stripe in the leaves.  It is approximately 9" in diameter x 10" tall.  Because this plant has such firm, substantial leaves, it is quite heavy, which is reflected in the shipping charge.

Agave ghiesbreghtii is a medium-sized agave that has individual rosettes that grow to approximately 30 inches wide by 2 feet tall.  It offsets extensively to form tight solid clumps. The 3 to 4 inch wide leaves are widest toward the middle, slightly guttered on the upper surface, and have attractive and varied contrasting leaf color with a lighter green medial stripe. The terminal spine is about 1/2 inch long and the margins have down-turned spines. Young leaves have attractive red margins and spines that age to pale gray as the leaf ages, contrasting well with the dark green leaves, which are also marked with a paler green midrib stripe. When plants mature and flower, often during spring, the greenish-purple flowers are carried on 8-13 feet unbranched spikes.

Plant in full sun. This Agave requires little or no irrigation. It is cold hardy to 20-25° F. This plant comes from the state of Mexico in Mexico south to Guatemala. It makes a great container plant and is useful in the garden as a low prickly hedge. It is sometimes listed incorrectly a "ghiesbrechtii."  It is also sometimes called Agave roesliana, Agave purpusorum or Agave huehueteca.

We will ship US Postal Service Priority Mail or first class (depending upon destination and weather).  If you live in a colder region, please be advised that we do not guarantee plants against damage due to cold temperatures. Please arrange to bring your plant package indoors immediately to avoid cold damage.  We ship the plants bare root (without soil or pot) to minimize damage due to the weight of the soil/pot.  The plants are well wrapped for both cushioning and insulation. Succulents travel very well "bare root." You can pot it up immediately upon arrival or even wait a few days. Once you repot (in cactus mix, never potting soil), please don't water for at least a week in case the roots are "dinged" while you are repotting. Not to worry, these plants can go bare root for a short while without a problem.

Please let us know if you have purchased multiple plants (before paying) and we will send you a combined invoice. Sorry,  I cannot hold items for future auctions to take place to combine shipping. Combined shipping cost will be the cost of the more expensive plant to ship plus $4 for the next plant and $3 for each additional plant.

Payment is expected within 48 hours of end of auction, please, and likewise, we will ship within 48 hours of receiving cleared payment (Sundays not included).
