19th Century South Asia Bronze Figure of Hindu God Shiva & Uma seated on Nandi - 30cm/12"

Ca. 19th century bronze of Shiva with Uma or Parvati, in the traditional pose. Shiva is regarded as limitless, transcendent, unchanging and formless. He is the patron god of yoga, meditation and art. Uma (or Parvati) is the wife of the Hindu god Shiva - the protector and regenerator of universe and all life. She is the goddess of fertility, love and devotion; as well as of divine strength and power. Shiva and Uma are seated on Nandi the traditional Bull mount of Shiva. 

The statue has perfect balance and proportions which are the key to a fine Shiva sculpture.  The casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the fingers and toes.  Each detail is rendered perfectly.  The distinctive azurite and malachite patina of the piece is also particularly delightful. 

The sculpture provides the perfect traditional in appearance Shiva to bring serenity and timeless style to your home, office or sacred space.
