20th Century Javanese Bronze Karana 'Ward Off Evil' Mudra Buddha Statue - 20cm/8"

Measures – (Height) 20cm/8”

Ca. Early 20th century Javanese Buddha. The Buddha is shown after his enlightenment on a circular lotus base. The Buddha is seated in the Karana mudrā that wards off evil. The Karana mudrā is the mudra which expels demons and removes obstacles such as sickness or negative thoughts. It wards off evil.

The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow.  His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings.

The casting is both heavy and beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the fingers and toes. The two exquisitely raised fingers displaying the Lion mudra of strength.   Each detail is rendered perfectly.

The sculpture provides the perfect Buddha to bring serenity and timeless style to your home, office or sacred space.
