JOHN BULL MAGAZINE – NEWSAGENT ADVERTISING POSTER

Measures 30x20 inches (approx)

In very poor condition with creases and damage to edges and internal tears.

Original 1950’s newsagent poster for JOHN BULL magazine, promoting the serialisation of Lieutenant Hornblower by CS Forester.

John Bull magazine was published by Odhams from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. Similar in style to the iconic American magazine The Saturday Evening Post, the John Bull covers encapsulated post-war Britain and employed some of Britain's finest illustrators. They also included short stories by major British authors such as H. E. Bates, Agatha Christie, Nicholas Monsarrat, N. J. Crisp, Gerald Kersh, J. B. Priestley and C. S. Forester.

Lieutenant Hornblower is a novel by CS Forester, first published in 1952.

I am selling another “John Bull” poster (The Far Country by Nevil Shute) and a “Women” poster  (Jubilee Trail by Gwen Bristow) on separate listings. No extra postage if you buy more than one poster.

Will be sent rolled in a tube or can be collected from Chichester (cash on collection please)
