WWII Utica M4 Bayonet for M1 Carbine with USM8A1 Scabbard
Correctly identified in M.H. Cole's "The Best of U.S. Military knives, bayonets & Machetes., page 141. Complete with the leather washer handle.
Cross piece guard marked U.S. M4, Utica with the flaming bomb stamp.
Approximate Measurements:
6 5/8" inch blade
Overall length: 11 5/8" inches
Scabbard is marked: U.S.M8; B. M. Co. In addition, the top plate of the throat is marked B * / 1 N, identifying this as an orginal M8 scabbard.
Condition: This bayonet is in excellent condition with light wear shown (Scroll down to see photos). The scabbard does not have the metal web hanger nor small securing strap, but is an original scabbard, not a later add. See photos below.
