This is part of a Saggar from the 1970 Longton Hall dig relating to the first Staffordshire Porcelain Factory of the mid 18th c.

It comes from the collection of Harry Sheldon who was the Manager of the Jasper Warehouse and died in 1995. 

It looks pretty insignificant out of its historical context until you think that it was filled with porcelain gems made by William Littler 
 
At its greatest it measures 6 inches by 6 inches by 2 and a half inches.

Place it in your Cabinet,no one else will notice it but you'll know.
