Complete and fully working 1905 Bernhard Stoewer transverse shuttle sewing machine based on Singer model 12. Made in Stettin, Germany, imported by Harris of London.

The date of manufacture is Spring 1905 according to the manufacturer's records based on the serial number. Please see their website at www.stoewer-museum.de.

The machine comes complete with a full set of original and still shiny feet and attachments, including an extra needle plate, five bobbins and seven 12x1 needles in a little original needle case. The wooden case with marquetry inlays is also original, strong and complete, including the key. There is some staining on the top, and the handle had been replaced.

Originally, this was a treadle head, but someone added a hand-crank, so now it could be used either way.

I shall send you two manuals as PDF: the original one in German and a Singer 12 manual in English.

The machine is heavy as it has steel gears and a cast iron body, hence a high postage price. Note that the machine cannot be insured against damage, only against loss. I will pack it very well of course, but cannot be held responsible for any damage in transit.

I am happy to post internationally, but please be aware of the costs and possible import tax in your country. I listed postage for some destinations, please contact me for other countries. You are also welcome to arrange a courier yourself and avoid a 15% fee from eBay and a 5% fee from PayPal (sorry, I cannot be paying that out of my pocket). Parcel dimensions will be 60x45x35cm at 20kg.

Pick up from Southampton (Bitterne) would be preferable.

Any questions - please ask.

Thank you!
