You can use 2S lipo battery's for this car and not 3S. The ESC supports also 3S but this is not recommended for the motor. A 2S battery hold a voltage of 7.4volts and 8.4volts after charge. the ESC handles up to 100Amps! The motor drains a peak of 90Amps, that's a lot of power! A 3S battery should melt the wires.
