This item is a handcrafted glass crab sculpture that is an intricate design and very popular. Figurine is made using dichroic glass that creates the shine in the belly and colored tubing encasements that compose the remainder of the piece. The scorpion is 3.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches in width. Not many of these exist and for good reason - it is a very difficult and time consuming piece to create. The sculpture is created using a glass blowing technique called 'lampworking', the glass is properly heat treated in a kiln and is heated and cooled the proper amount of time to create a pyrex-like strength. The eyeballs on the sculpture are made using an Italian glass blowing technique called 'millefoiri', this means thousand flowersin Italian and dates back hundreds of years. Thousand flowers is symbolic of the 'mille' being sliced into hundreds of pieces to recreate many eyeballs.

The scorpion has been a smash hit - it features details right down to the small sensors a scorpion has on its head!
