Packing:

We apply our packing expertise to every box and take special care in every aspect of the process.  

NO LEAKY BOXES!

Your fish will be double bagged in high quality 3 mil fish bags, and our boxes are foam insulated to protect from both hot and cold weather  (In cold weather, heat pack's will be used if needed).  We use other materials for padding, and give the final "tape blessing" to secure everything in place.  We've been shipping fish for years, and know how important it is to do it right!

Why NOT buy International:

The import process is a High Risk Gamble with high costs & weeks of wait time

Shipping bettas from overseas entails a lengthy wait time and is extremely stressful on the fish.
The process involves the following: After purchasing from an international vendor, your fish will not ship until that vendor has sold enough fish in the United States to fill a box.  The box once filled will be transshipped to their agent in the USA which allows the very expensive international shipping costs to balance out per fish.  The agent will process the box through customs then sort and re-bag each fish before re-packing in individual boxes and finally sending your precious cargo via US-Mail service to your door.

D.O.A. Policy:

Receiving a Dead On Arrival (DOA) from us is very rare, you probably have butter odds of finding two gold rings on the same day.  However don't mistake us as ignorant, we know it is a sad possibility and in that rare occurrence we will work to make it right!

We ask for the following to qualify for a refund equaling the sale price of the fish: Only applying to Overnight Shipping - We must be notified within 1 hour of receiving the box, (In accordance with postal tracking information time). After notifying us, you must freeze the fish in it's original un-opened shipping bag until further instructed. DOA guarantee will not apply if the package is left on door step or delivery attempt is missed.
Note: We may in some instances request the return of the frozen DOA fish via Express mail in it's original packing (return of frozen DOA will be paid for by us in this case).  

Betta Care Tips:

The health of our fish is of highest concern, so we ask buyers to be informed and understand the care requirements for these beautiful fish.  

As a quick reference point we give you some key tips in keeping optimal Betta health.

Housing:
Although these fish tolerate small bowls, we recommend  nothing smaller than a Half gallon for most Betta types.

Halfmoons (Over HM’s/DT HM’s):  
The exception and will require no less than 1 gallon, they need space to maintain their bounty of rippling fins healthy.   In smaller bowls, HalfMoon fins will go sour and the damage many times in irreversible.

Plakats & Wild Betta Species:  
These guys sometimes think they can fly, keep aquariums covered to prevent jumping .

Feeding:
There are a variety of different foods available for Betta enthusiast, and any good quality pelletized betta diet will suffice as a staple.  We do however emphasize that diet should be supplemented with other foods, especially more natural foods like blood worms, mosquito larvae and/or tubufix worms.  These natural foods can be purchased frozen or live, and will greatly improve your Betta’s quality of life.  Avoid over feeding to maintain water quality, thus feed smaller portions to avoid foods from sitting on the aquarium floor.

Water Quality:
Maintaining a good water quality is key to your fish’s health, the following tips will help you maintain your fish healthy.

Avoid over feeding:
Since leftover food sitting in the aquarium will only breakdown and pollute your water.  Any food that does manage to bypass your Betta can easily be taken out with the use of a turkey baster or pipette; just make sure to use one that will be used only for the fish and not in the kitchen.

Sustain natural biological filtration:
As in all aquarium, beneficial bacteria are our biggest ally in maintaining our water in check.  This is the most important kind of filtration since wastes products  produced by your fish are converted  by bacteria into a non-toxic state.  The process involves various types of bacteria; One bacteria converts waste products including ammonia into nitrites, Nitrites will later be converted by a different kind of bacteria into nitrates.  Nitrates are relatively benign and is the end result of our good bacteria’s help.  Nitrates will however accumulate and are eventually removed when we do a water change.

Water changes:
There are many different kinds of water that can be use including Treated Tap water, distilled water, RO water, and bottled water.  We recommend avoiding distilled and RO water as they contain practically no minerals which are beneficial for your fish.  Instead use either bottle drinking water or Treated tap water.  Never use tap water straight from the sink, the chlorine and chloramines in straight tap water will kill your fish.  This is why tap water must be treated with one of the various aquarium water conditioners which de-chlorinate the water.  It is a simple process and should be done in accordance with the product’s instructions.  

When doing water changes, make sure the new water is the same temperature as the fish’s water.  In general the Bettas’ water  temperature should be kept  between 72F and 82Fdegrees.

We avoid doing full water changes, and instead recommend changing the water in portions.  Debris build up on the gravel should be taken out with the use of your turkey baster and any algae build up on the glass can be gently removed.  Keep in mind that gravel should never be taken out and washed as it contains all the pre-mentioned bacteria that filter our water naturally.

All in all, Bettas are easy to care for just keep these tips in mind for success!
