I always send the items by tracked, fully insured & signed-for delivery for peace of mind of both parties.
Please bear this in mind with regard to why my postage costs are priced as they are. A lot of buyers tend to forget the 'packaging' part of P&P charges and forget the 'signed-for' aspect costs almost £1.
Not forgetting the fact that eBay now take 10% of your postage charges for themselves, which means postage prices have to factor this in otherwise it ultimately costs me to post the items out!
