ROLEX VINTAGE SUBMARINER 6538 BIG CROWN JAMES BOND 1958
The Big Crown is the Submariner that every collector wants, but few get to own. This watch is particularly good looking.
Original stainless steel case is 38mm diameter by 14.5mm thick. Brevet screw down crown operates smoothly. The bezel is original and turns smoothly and with the correct amount of resistance. Insert is a Rolex replacement insert. Crystal is domed plastic. Serial number 426XXX dates production to 1958. Inside case back is marked ‘6538’ and has IV.1958 as its date code.
Rolex black gilt service dial with chapter ring and even and pleasing patina across the dial and replacement hands.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1030 with 25 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is clean and running.
Bracelet is Rolex riveted Oyster.
This is an important and desirable vintage Submariner and most important, great looking and fun to own.
