FOOTBALL A & B C CARD 33

Vintage original card, distributed with bubble gum in 1960/61, from the series known as ‘black backs’; Card No.33: Ken Malcolm (Ipswich Town, Left-back).

Size: 8.9cm x 6.4cm

The reverse shows information about the footballer, and a football quiz question printed in black, with the answer in the form of a cartoon picture with legend – the missing details to be revealed by rubbing a coin across the ‘space’ (printed with a chemical that is visible if held at the correct angle to the light).

Condition: Slight rubbing to the edges/corners;  with three shallow creases approximately perpendicular to the edges (1.7cm, 0.8cm, from back to front, and 2.2cm, from front to back with front layer unbroken).  Clean apart from slight yellowing to the margin, and more yellowing to the back (please see photos). The missing parts of the pictures to the back have probably been rubbed in the past but the colour seems to have faded;  it seems to be possible to re-rub them to reveal the picture again.
