For Sale:  A now antique vernier dividing head made by W. Wilson, Instruments, Belmont Street, London, NW. ca late 1800's.  We could not find a specific match for this assembly but did find a couple of related pictures which we have put in the picture section.  This vernier dividing head was imported by the James G Biddle Co. of Philadelphia, PA.  Biddle was known for supplying early scientific instruments to schools and colleges.  The vernier's face shows both Wilson's engraved name and the Biddle distributing emblem.  See the two Wilson advertisements in the photo-section to see two devices which seem to share a similar vernier drive mechanism.

Condition:
Consider this "Not Working or For Parts".  It is very used, very old and most probably needs servicing.  Certainly could do better with some cleaning and polishing.  We were unable to test this because we could not figure out how it works, what it does exactly or how to make it move.  According to some advertisements by Wilson, there is also a vertical adjustment on some of his devices.  This certainly looks like it has some vertical travel but we cannot see or understand what would perform that function.  Let's just call this in "FAIR" condition and suitable for restoration in the right hands.

Terms:  Sold as described and strictly as is.  This is from an estate and we do not know the last time it was used nor where it came from.
