ANTIQUE 18th 19th Century PERSIAN ISLAMIC QAJAR IZNIK GLAZED TILE HUNTER HORSE

It is a rare and beautiful molded and glazed relief antique-Persian 18th century Islamic Qajar polychrome tile of a hunter scene. It is semi-3d tile with the figures being raised and embossed from the background.

It depicts a Qajar woman / princess riding a white horse  holding a falcon on his arm.  The woman is dressed in a vibrant iznik blue robe , yellow skirt  and white shoes . The background is green/gray Khaki with some white lovely details on top. I have sold a number of Qajar tiles and it barely happens to see a woman/ princess riding a horse therefore it's highly collectable.

Despite being very old the colours are lovely and bright however they might be a little different than in the actual item because of the way the camera captures colour. There is a small chip to the left corner of the tile while might have happened when being reclaimed.

The tile was broken from the top left and has been received professional restoration.  The crack is more visible from the back of the tile. There are some dark, glaze crazing to the glazed surface of the tile which s common to 18th century antique tiles and is making them look spectacular.

It measures approximately 13 cm (W) x 22.5 cm (L) and 1.5cm (H)  Qajar period ruled over persia between1794-1925 and these tile famously produced between 18th and 19th century. The tile is not marked or signed but guaranteed to be an early and original piece, please view additional photographs below.

These tiles were mostly reclaimed from public baths and palaces. These tiles were not generally used in mosques while in Islamic culture using a human figure in mosques was not allowed.

I am calling these tiles shabby chic due to the possible air bubble depressions and chips to the glaze along the sides. There is some light wear to the paint or paint leaking in some areas. Be sure to check out all of our photos for further details as they are part of my description..

I don't accept return due to high postage costs. I have provided an honest detailed description and photos and will answer any questions asap. You are welcome to do inspection from west ealing London before deciding to purchase. Happy Bidding!!
